Pastoral/biblical counseling is a form of counseling using Christian principles to address emotional and mental health issues. My goal is to help clients find hope, healing and direction, and help them to develop a deeper understanding of themselves and their relationship with God.

What types of issues can be addressed in counseling?

Accepted Answer

Counseling can address a wide range of issues, such as depression, anxiety, stress, relationship problems, trauma, grief, and many more. Helping you identify the issues you are facing and develop strategies for addressing them is my utmost focus.

How long are sessions and how often do they take place?

Sessions are typically 55-60 minutes long and take place on a regular schedule, such as weekly or bi-weekly.

How much does counseling cost?

As a Pastoral counselor, I charge $100 per session. It's important to note that I do not currently accept any insurance for my counseling services. Payment for sessions can be made in cash, check or credit card at the time of the session. Additionally, I offer a free 15-minute consultation for clients who are interested in scheduling a session with me.

During a typical session, I will listen attentively and ask you questions to gain a deeper understanding of your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. We will work together to identify patterns and themes that may be contributing to your difficulties, and I will provide feedback, guidance and teach you biblical principles and spiritual practices to help you improve your mental and emotional well-being and help you to find hope, healing and direction through your faith.

My focus will be to help you better understand and manage your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Together, we will work towards achieving your personal goals. I understand that the process of counseling can be challenging, but with my guidance, support, and with God's help, we can make positive changes in your life.

How do I know if counseling is right for me?

As a counselor, I understand that sometimes it can be difficult to navigate through life's challenges and struggles. If you're experiencing emotional or mental health issues, or are facing challenges in your life, counseling can be a helpful option to consider. It's a good idea to talk to me to determine if counseling is the right fit for you and how it can help you to navigate through the challenges you are facing, especially if you are struggling with spiritual questions or issues.  I recommend you schedule a free 15-minute consultation with me to see if therapy is right for you, and to discuss how counseling can support your healing and growth.

What types of counseling modalities do you use?

I use two modalities in my practice: restoration therapy and biblical principles. Restoration therapy addresses the root causes of emotional and mental health issues, restoring relationships with God, self and others. Biblical principles provide guidance and insight for my clients, helping them find hope, healing and direction through their faith. Together, these two modalities provide a comprehensive approach to promoting personal growth and healing.

How do you approach premarital and marital counseling?

When I approach premarital and marital counseling, I use a proven tool called Prepare-Enrich. This is a research-based assessment tool that helps couples identify their strengths and areas for growth in their relationship. I will work with the couple to assess their current concerns and provide feedback on their communication, conflict resolution, and other areas that are important to building a strong and healthy marriage.  Additionally, my goal is to help couples build a strong foundation for their marriage, and to learn the skills they need to navigate the challenges that they will face in their relationship, using biblical principles as the guide.

What should I do if I need to cancel or reschedule a session?

It's important to inform me as soon as possible if you need to cancel or reschedule a session. I understand that life can be unpredictable and that there may be times when you need to cancel a scheduled counseling session. If you need to cancel a session, please let me know as soon as possible. I will consider any cancellation fees on a case by case basis and will work with you to find a solution that is fair and reasonable for both of us.

What are the confidentiality and privacy policies of the practice?

Counselors are bound by professional and legal guidelines to keep client information confidential and private. I will explain the confidentiality and privacy policies during the first session, and clients will be asked to sign an informed consent form.
